Freshly Ground was formed in 1997 in Cape Town, South Africa. The band's original lineup consisted of Judson Velji (guitar), Andrew Welman (keyboards), Ryan Kock (drums), and brothers Tshepo (vocals, guitar) and Juma (bass) Mussa.
