Critics at the 1985 Venice Film Festival compared it to Ingmar Bergman’s Autumn Sonata but with a distinctly Mediterranean melancholy. For years, Piccoli Fuochi existed only as a deteriorating 35mm print held by the Cineteca di Bologna.
